Alfresco open source enterprise content management platform now offers full Ubuntu Linux support

Alfresco Software has announced that its open source Alfresco Enterprise Edition 3.3 enterprise content management (ECM) platform now offers full Ubuntu Linux support.

Enterprise Edition 3.3 is now certified on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Server Edition. Alfresco said the Alfresco and Ubuntu stack had been developed in response to customer demand.

Barry Duplantis, vice president of customer services at Alfresco Software, said, “In a recent survey of Alfresco Enterprise customers 43% expressed an interest in using Ubuntu in their deployments of Alfresco, more than any other Linux distribution."

He said, “The introduction of Ubuntu’s LTS version has enabled Alfresco to add Ubuntu to our supported stacks for Enterprise subscription customers, making it one of best cost/performance Linux stacks available on the market today.”

The certified stack included testing against versions of MySQL, OpenOffice and OpenJDK, taken from both the Ubuntu Partner repository and Alfresco distributions.
