BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, has signed an agreement with Prometric to deliver its new Foundation Certificate in Green IT exam.
The certificate will be achieved via Prometric's worldwide network of IT test centres. The qualification is designed to help individuals gain an in-depth understanding of the environmental issues associated with IT, including improving energy efficiencies.
BCS said the qualification will provide candidates with a broad understanding of legislation and policies, carbon energy accounting and how to create a green IT strategy.
Michiel van der Voort, international executive director of the BCS, said, "Understanding legislation around carbon accounting is vitally important today for any business, and IT professionals around the globe have a key part to play in this."
David Grinham, Prometric vice president and EMEA general manager, said, "We are excited to be selected as the sole provider of this new certification exam, which is the first to address what IT professionals can do to better support the environment from a technology perspective."
