Home The News General DM News Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust integrates digital dictation with document management for quicker access to single patient records

The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust has integrated its digital dictation system with its main electronic document management platform to give clinicians a quicker single record of their patients.

The hospital has integrated its BigHand digital dictation system with its WinDIP Enterprise document management system from Gateway. With the BigHand integration up to date audio files are now uploaded instantly into the electronic document management solution, providing complete access for clinicians to refer to.

Paul Curley, consultant surgeon at the Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust, said, “We implemented BigHand in 2007 and it has been a big success within the Trust. Our strategy is to develop an electronic record rich in functionality.

"One of the first successes has been the ability to add dictations from BigHand to the WinDIP document management environment, allowing colleagues access to dictations within the relevant case notes prior to it being typed. This is the sort of integration that systems need to deliver to realise their potential."
