NHS Trusts are being offered quicker times to send electronic patient discharge letters to GPs following a technology deal between SRC and PCTI.

The partnership with PCTI enables SRC to provide NHS Trusts with end-to-end document creation and electronic document distribution systems. SRC, a provider of digital dictation and voice recognition solutions to NHS Trusts, will now offer them PCTI's Electronic Document Transfer (EDT) platform.

The SRC offering is designed to provide a cost effective means of Trusts meeting discharge letter delivery targets, which are being reduced to 24 hours after 1 April 2010. GP practices benefit from receiving electronic documents into a central location for rapid filing to the patient record and onward workflow for review and action.

The system captures and encrypts documents from hospital systems, transferring them over the N3 NHS network using a secure connection to EDT-enabled GP practices.

The PCTI electronic distribution system is also now fully integrated with SRC's range of WinScribe digital dictation, template management and document production systems. The expanded package saves on printing and delivery costs, whilst ensuring important documents are securely delivered with minimal administrative intervention.

Chris Hart, CEO at SRC, said, "The electronic document distribution capability has the potential to deliver immense benefits to our customer base of over 45 NHS Trusts."
