Kraft Foods has won the 2009 Gartner Master Data Management (MDM) Excellence Award. Along with Kraft, the other two finalists were BP and Merck & Co.
The finalists presented their MDM case studies to conference attendees at the recent Gartner Master Data Management Summit in Los Angeles. Delegates then voted on which of the finalists demonstrated the best example of MDM excellence.
“MDM is increasingly accepted as a key unifying initiative that enables organisations to meet their objectives in running, growing and transforming their businesses,” said Gartner analyst Andrew White.
Enterprises submitted entries formulated within Gartner’s "Seven Building Blocks of MDM" framework, to describe their MDM initiatives and show how they demonstrated business excellence. A team of Gartner analysts evaluated and selected three finalists.
The Seven Building Blocks of MDM cover areas like managing master data assets within the organisation, data governance and compliance, and business services and data workflow.
