IDEAL and Contex are partnering to provide a low cost green paperless workflow system to the construction industry.

IDEAL (www.ideal.com) is a developer of large format document management software, including web-based subscription and enterprise systems for architects, engineers and construction workers. Contex (www.contex.com) develops wide format scanning and imaging systems.

They are now jointly offering the IDEALscanroom.com subscription-based planroom and the new Contex XD2490 portable scanner to provide architects, engineers and construction personnel a way to scan and communicate drawing changes directly from the field.

Users can mark-up drawings, then quickly scan them with Contex's XD2490 wide-format 24in scanner, upload the data to IDEALscanroom and immediately make the drawing change available to authorised team members.

IDEALscanroom.com can also be used to archive scanned drawings. Contex's Energy Star-rated XD2490 scanner and IDEALscanroom online solution make green, paperless construction communication a reality, said the partners.

IDEALscanroom.com includes bid management, email notifications, redlining, archiving of as-built drawings and the ability to create a revenue centre.
