Mid-size law firms offered data and application services in the cloud with K-Cloud/Pilgrim deal
Mid-size law firms are being offered a range of cloud-based data and application services to help their virtualisation strategies.
IT solutions firm K-Cloud and 2e2, a provider of mission-critical IT services, have announced a partnership with Pilgrim Systems to deliver applications to UK law firms. The partnership with K-Cloud and 2e2 forms the next step in Pilgrim’s software-as-a-service strategy.
Pilgrim Systems specialises in the supply, implementation and support of law firm business software through its LawSoft application suite.
Colin Kennedy, Pilgrim chief operating officer, said, “We spoke to a number of managed service providers and whilst most had excellent credentials when it came to hosting and the online provision of software, none had real domain knowledge of the legal profession.
"But when I started discussions with Malcolm Simms, CEO of K-Cloud and former Eversheds [a major UK legal firm] IT Director, it was like a breath of fresh air."
Kennedy said Simms fully understood the needs of the legal profession. Simms said, “Towards the end of 2009 we set about selecting our suppliers of choice for both practice management and case management. LawSoft is the best product on the market and Pilgrim is keen to work in a collaborative manner, which is fundamental in putting together a market leading cloud solution.”
K-Cloud has established a number of contractual relationships with other leading legal software vendors which cover data management, including BigHand, Open Text, Mimecast and Microsoft.
Powered by 2e2 hosted services, the K-Cloud offering sees firms pay a single monthly bill covering infrastructure, disaster recovery, all software and a support service for all products in use.
