Has anyone done, or know of any studies on the environmental benefits of cloud computing over in-house servers?

i wouldn't know per se, i would assume that the overall impact would remain pretty much the same. however the benefit would appear in house. with the reduced computer needs for a business the energy consumption will be less. whether the company would see an actual saving i suppose would be countered by the increased cost of more bandwidth.
